Registering a Vehicle for the First Time

In 2012, the Zimbabwean Government introduced a new series of number plates. It was made compulsory for all motor vehicles with the old number plates to register the new ones. This step was necessitated by many factors, one of which was to curtail vehicle smuggling into Zimbabwe.
Changing from Old to New Number Plates
These are the requirements for changing over from old to new plates:
- Complete Application Form CRV4
- Police Clearance Endorsed On CRV4 form
- Copy of Registration Book
- Set of Old Number
- Positive I.D
- Current Proof of Residence (Within 3 months)
- A Valid Certificate of Fitness (RT38 in the case of public service vehicles)
- Processing fee of $160 or $140 in the case of motor bikes or motor/quad cycle
