Results oriented and meticulous safety, health and environmental practitioner with sound and adequate working knowledge and practical experience of occupational safety, health and environmental risk management systems (NOSA Integrated 5 Star SHE system, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001).     Dairyhill investments (Pvt) Ltd
    SHEQ Officer – Zimplats Ngezi Mine Operations
     Implementing the Zimplats Business Management System (BMS) for all mine operations as a leading contractor involved in all the loading and hauling as well as re-handle of ore from Ngezi Mines to the Selous smelter.
     Coordinating emergency mock drills on a quarterly basis, identifying areas of improvement, and implementing risk-based controls.
     Inspections and interaction with maintenance/ engineering teams on site (boilermakers, crushing plant, mechanics, and diesel plant fitters) on engineering safety issues and best practice.
     Reporting and investigating incidents to principal (Zimplats) on Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs), environmental incidents and near misses as per policies and procedures and updating incident registers.
     Taking a leading role in the review of baseline risk assessments.
     Following up on closure of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) within the department.
     Conducting inspections around the site and on mining equipment as per Zimplats requirements and best practice.
     Training of personnel from time to time on SHEQ issues.
     Maintenance of fire equipment service records and engaging external fire engineers for preventative maintenance of fire-fighting equipment.
     Incident investigations and analysis of trends for use in planning of annual SHEQ objectives.
     Maintenance of employee medical records and pneumoconiosis certificates and interaction with NSSA inspectorate officials.
     Taking a leading role in the review of risk based SHEQ management programmes.
     Leading the process of issue-based risk assessments (IBRAs) for projects to be undertaken at the mine including excavation of raise-bores for ventilation fans, excavation for trenches, road-making, loading and hauling at stockpiles and slimes dams using excavators, loaders, tippers and road trains.
     Planning and coordinating monthly SHEQ meetings and logging data in the Zimplats electronic SHE management system.
     Monitoring/ enforcing implementation of the Zimplats COVID-19 Code of Practice (CoP) and operational procedures.
  • 2010 - 2014
    Zimasco (Pvt Ltd) Kwekwe Division
    SHE & Industrial Hygiene Assistant/ Acting Industrial Hygiene Technician
     Implementing the NOSA Integrated SHE System for Zimasco Kwekwe Division as a member of the SHE team and maintaining records at Zimasco Kwekwe’s SHE Central.
     Responding to calls and assisting in the coordination of Fire Fighting team and Fire Tender operations for the Division as required from time to time.
     Reporting accidents to inspectorate as required from time to time and updating accident registers.
     Participation in the review of risk-based SHE management programmes.
     Taking part in Safety, Health and Environmental audits done by South Africa based auditing organization, National Occupational Safety Association (NOSA) as well as Association of Mine Managers of Zimbabwe (AMMZ), including NSSA legal compliance audits and general plant inspections.
     Training SHE Representatives and other employees on Company SHE programmes.

     Assisting the SHE Superintendent in generating and disseminating SHE accident and incident statistics weekly, monthly quarterly and annually.
     Assumed all the Industrial hygiene roles indicated below starting October 2013 to August 2014.
     Vehicle emission tests/analysis; personal and environmental noise surveys. Monitoring on illumination adequacy, dust sampling, ergonomics, hygiene and sanitation, heat stress at the smelting furnaces and casting bay.
     Compilation of survey reports with compliance & non-conformities and recommending way forward where necessary.
     Follow up on closure of deviations to minimise downgrading incidents.

     Compiling preliminary monthly reports on behalf of Alloy Processing & Transport Manager and the AP&R Process Metallurgist, and other general clerical duties.
