Managing Director

Main purpose of role

To direct and control the company's operations and to give strategic guidance and direction to the board to ensure that the company achieves its mission and objectives.
Roles and responsibilities
• Team Building/Coaching: Recruit and develop best-in-class team members to nurture and retain the company’s future leaders.
• Create collaborative and focused teams, and mentor team members to boost engagement as well as personal and career development.
• Developing and executing business strategies to achieve short- and long-term goals
• Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer and the Board, provide market insight and strategy advice.
• Develop and implement business plans to improve cost efficiency.
• Maintain positive and trust-based relationships with business partners, shareholders and authorities.
• Overseeing company business operations, financial performance, investments and ventures.
• Overseeing company policies, procedures and legal guidelines are clearly communicated.
• Assessing, managing and resolving problematic developments and situations.
• Building and enhancing company public profile at events and speaking engagements.

• Formulate corporate and product growth strategic plans for Appletree Zimbabwe.
• Spearhead corporate customer acquisition and retention.
• Manage key corporate relationships.
• Monitor all commercial functions of the Department.
• Monitor performance of product revenue lines and recommend pricing changes in line with market trends.
• Receive and analyse weekly and monthly reports from Marketing and Regional Sales Managers and align results to the overall strategic objectives of the organization.
• Carry out recruitment function for Managers in line with corporate policy.
• Carry out routine performance appraisals for middle level managers.
• Direct new product formulation, development and growth.
• Approve organisational policies and procedures.
• Chair departmental meetings

• Come up with strategies, implementation and monitoring plans for Zapper and ZapZap roll out in the region.
• Establish, maintain and expand customer base for Zap Zap and Zapper.
• Recruit, train and manage sales staff including allocating areas of responsibility, setting targets and monitoring.
• Maintain relationships with channels partner to ensure business growth.
• Actively participate in customer and channel partners recruitment and management.
• Compile and analyse sales figures and all reports as required.
• Collect customer feedback and carry out market research and competitor analysis.
• Keep up to date with products development and competitor activity.
• Come up with and carry out promotional and marketing activities and also ensure branding is done to company standards.
• Ensure agents and merchants are compliant to the agreed terms and conditions and regulatory requirements.

I am one of the pioneers of Telecash which is a Mobile Money service from Telecel Zimbabwe. I was in charge of marketing and Sales of the product for the whole country, supervising 15 Regional Agent Officers, 3 Business Development Officers, 15 Assistant Regional Officers and over 400 Brand Ambassadors. Reporting to the MFS Director, I managed to introduce the brand in the market and it gained traction as evidenced by current growth in customer acquisition and transactions on the platform. My key performance indicators and achievements entailed distribution channels development, sales targets and product marketing

I was responsible for overseeing the development and growth of the Cellcard product in the country. I was privileged to see its setting up. I was one of the team members who grew the product to over 120K active customers in 9 months.

Before appointment to these challenging senior positions I also served in these positions: Regional Manager for Midlands, Branch Manager- Kwekwe and Senior Controller Kwekwe Branch.
Generally responsible for day to day operations of the bank to ensure adherence to corporate governance issues, formulation of processes and procedures. Business Develeopment was also key, including staffing.

Processing and renewing investments when due and making payments tomatured investments.
